Squaw Valley Volunteer Trail Day – Saturday July 9, 2016

Please come and join us for the annual Squaw Valley volunteer trail maintenance day in Shirley Canyon. This year it will be held on Saturday July 9, 2016. Squaw Valley Ski Holdings will provide breakfast, PlumJack will be providing lunch on the trail, and Resort at Squaw Creek will provide beer, sodas and food for after the completion of the day. Incorporation of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows

A new organization in Squaw Valley, the Squaw Alpine Association, is pursuing the incorporation of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows as a town. Towns incorporate to have local control of land use planning and regulation, and tax revenues. Local control of land use means that a new town would have a planning department, which would write a general plan with input from residents. Squaw Preparatory School to Open this Fall in Squaw Valley

The preparatory school is a public school and an extension of Creekside Cooperative Charter School in Tahoe City. Creekside has been in operation for 6 years with grades K through 7 and is moving to expand with grades 7-10 at a temporary location on the large asphalt area behind Olympic Village Inn. The focus of the school will be on academics. The school has set a goal to see 80% of its students continue on to the best universities in the country. Squaw Valley PICKLEBALL for 2013

Squaw Valley Pickleball has an infusion of funds from Placer County for much needed improvements on our parking lot courts. The improvements are $800 for cones, more fencing and perhaps line repairs. The improvements are thanks to hard work on our behalf from Ed Heneveldt and the MAC Park Committee. This summer we’re considering adding a time/day for recreational players who do not plan to play in tournaments. Is this the end of homes under a million dollars in Squaw Valley? Currently there are 17 homes for sale between the price of $949,000 and $9,500,000. Only two homes are priced under a million; one at $949,000 and the other at $995,000. From there we go right up to $1,495,000 and higher! There are currently two homes in escrow. A long time tradition for Squaw Valley Property owners has been the annual pick up of winter debris left in our streets in the valley. The day begins at 8:00 with a delicious breakfast of pancakes ,bacon, sausage, and fruit created by our own local firefighters.
